WorldTradeOrganization(WTO)——世界贸易组织 WhatistheWTOTheWorldTradeOrganization(WTO)istheonlyinternationalorganizationdealingwiththeglobalrulesoftradebetweennations.Itsmainfunctionistoensurethattradeflowsassmoothly,predictablyandfreelyaspossible.TheorganizationofficiallycommencedonJanuary1,1995,replacingtheGeneralAgreementonTariffsandTrade(GATT),whichcommencedin1948. ThefunctionsoftheWTOItoverseestheimplementation,administrationandoperationofthecoveredagreementsItprovidesaforumfornegotiationsandforsettlingdisputestheWTOisresponsibleforstrengtheningtheIMFandWBG TheprinciplesoftheWTO1.Non-DiscriminationTherulerequiresthataWTOmembermustapplythesameconditionsonalltradewithotherWTOmembers2.ReciprocityItreflectsbothadesiretolimitthescopeoffree-ridingthatmayariseandadesiretoobtainbetteraccesstoforeignmarkets TheprinciplesoftheWTO3.TransparencyTheWTOmembersarerequiredtopublishtheirtraderegulations，torespondtorequestsforinformationbyothermembers,andtonotifychangesintradepoliciestotheWTO4.FaircompetitionNotallowedtotakeunfairtradepracticestocompete,suchasDumpingandsubsidies TheWTOhas153membersWTOfoundermembers(1January1995)WTOsubsequentmembers On11december2001,ChinahasbecomeamemberoftheWTO THANKYOU!
